Why sign PDFs for free instead of a paid e-signature tool

Full e-signature platforms like DocuSign or Adobe Sign are built for businesses that need audit trails, multi-party signing workflows, and legal certification — and they charge a monthly subscription for that infrastructure. If you just need to add your own signature to a document you're sending yourself, that whole system is unnecessary. This tool does exactly that one job, for free, with your file never leaving your device.

When a drawn signature is enough

For most everyday paperwork — signing a form, initialing a simple agreement, approving an internal document — a drawn image signature works exactly like a scanned pen signature would. For high-stakes legal contracts, check whether your situation requires a certified e-signature provider with an audit trail.

Tips for a clean signature

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF or signature uploaded anywhere? No — the signature is drawn and applied entirely inside your browser. Neither your PDF nor your signature is sent to a server.

Is a drawn signature legally binding? For most everyday documents, a drawn image signature is accepted the same way a scanned pen signature would be. For contracts with strict legal requirements, check whether a certified e-signature service is required in your jurisdiction.

Can I sign more than one page? This tool places your signature on one chosen page per pass. To sign multiple pages, run the tool again on the downloaded file for each additional page.

Can I resize or reposition the signature? Yes — choose the corner placement and adjust the size before downloading.

How to sign a PDF online

  2. Draw your signature in the signature box with your mouse, finger or stylus. Use Clear to try again.
  3. Choose the page number, a corner position, the signature width and the margin.
  4. Apply the signature and download the signed PDF.

A note on legal validity

A drawn signature placed on a PDF is a visual mark. Whether it is accepted depends on the document, the organisation and the country. Many everyday agreements accept electronic signatures, while some documents, such as certain legal or government forms, require a witnessed, notarised or certificate-based digital signature. If the stakes are high, ask the recipient what they accept. This tool does not create certificate-based digital signatures.

More questions

Can I sign several pages? Run the tool once for each page that needs a signature, using the downloaded file as the input for the next pass.

Can I add my printed name or date too? The tool places the signature drawing. Add dates or typed names in the document before signing, or write them in a separate step.

Can I prepare the document before signing? Yes. Combine documents with Merge PDF or remove pages with Split PDF, then sign the final file.
